FLAMES
Two names. One verdict.
The playground classic. Type both names, watch the shared letters burn away, and find out whether you're Friends, Lovers, Affectionate, Married, Enemies or Siblings.
FLAMES — How it works
- 1
Write both full names next to each other.
- 2
Cross out every letter that appears in both names.
- 3
Count the letters that survive.
- 4
Spell F-L-A-M-E-S in a loop, striking out a letter every time you reach that count.
- 5
The last letter standing is your answer.
Questions people actually ask
What does FLAMES stand for?
Friends, Lovers, Affectionate, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings — the six possible outcomes of the game.
How is the FLAMES result calculated?
Letters that appear in both names cancel each other out. Whatever is left is counted, and that number is used to eliminate letters from F-L-A-M-E-S one by one until a single letter remains.
Does the order of the names change the result?
No. Only the count of unmatched letters matters, so swapping the names gives the same answer.
Is this FLAMES calculator free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no payment and no limit on how many times you play.
